Almost all the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha activists have gone underground apprehending their arrests while all the programmes have been kept secret.   Mahasabha had earlier announced to lay foundation of the Godse temple at Sidhauli in Sitapur and in Meerut on January 30, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Senior police officers here on Thursday confirmed that the state government has directed the cops to keep a watch on the activities of the Hindu nationalist party, who have declared to observe January 30, the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated, as Shaurya Diwas.  In Meerut, police has lodged a FIR against 15 activists of the Hindu Mahasabha for trying to construct a Godse temple. But no arrest has been made so far though most of the leaders are gone underground to avoid their arrest.

Meanwhile, Hindu Mahasabha National Working President Pandit Baba Nand Kishore Mishra told media persons from New Delhi that several functions would be organised on Thursday throughout the UP and they will observe it as ‘ Shaurya Diwas’.  ‘’ In Meerut, though we have suspended the programme of Bhoomi pujan of the Godse temple, but a havan programme would be held on Thursday under the leadership of  Acharya Madan Singh, general secretary of the organisation,’’ he stated.

Mishra clarified that Hindu Mahasabha has never done anything against the Constitution but on the other hand also advocated that every citizen of the country has the right to install statues in private land. Earlier Kamlesh Tewari had announced to set up a Godse temple at Sitapur. Tiwari has already gone underground and was unavailable for his comments on Thursday.

But leaders close to him disclosed that the Hindu Mahasabha activists could hold some programme ‘secretly’ in lucknow and Sitapur on Thursday.  Earlier Sitapur district magistrate Rajesh Misra had served a notice to Kamlesh Tiwari and 24 others and they have been asked to file their reply to why they should not be bound down to prevent

breach of peace to hold a programme of January 30 to lay the foundation stone for Godse temple at Sidhauli.  ‘’ There is all possibility of Kamlesh Tiwari reaching Sidhauli along with his supporters to lay the foundation stone for the  Godse temple,’’ a senior Mahasabha leader said.  However a strong contingent of police have been deployed in Sidhauli to avert the programme of the Mahasabha. Tiwari had also announced that Mahasabha, will launch formation of ‘Godse sena’ on January 30 to enroll 1 lakh youths to ‘spread the ideology’ of Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948.
