Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Hriday Naryan Dikshit has appealed to all MLAs to allocate Rs 1 crore from the Local Area Development fund for the procurement of essential equipment for fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
UP assembly has 403 MLAs.
“UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set up UP Covid Care Fund. The fund will be utilised for procurement of essential equipment and testing kits at all the state-run medical colleges and district hospitals to fight the coronavirus pandemic,” Dikshit said in a letter sent to all the MLAs on Friday.
He said, “The limit of spending Rs 25 lakh on one particular item from the Vidhayak Nidhi has been abolished by the chief minister and we can utilise the Vidhayak Nidhi for the procurement of the necessary equipment and testing kits.”
“You are popular people’s representative and on the strength of your popularity you have inspired people to take all precautions and preventive measures to fight the pandemic and doing so is also our national duty,” Dikshit said in the letter.
