SP will put up a good show in polls: Akhilesh

Biswajeet Banerjee

Strains of non-stop campaigning are visible on the face of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. For the last three weeks he had been addressing three to four rallies per day across the state, and in the evening he is giving shape to party’s strategy for the regions which would go to polls in the next phase. He wants everything should fall at its place because he has only one target in mind - Samajwadi Party should sweep Uttar Pradesh.

"The polling so far has proved that Samajwadi Party would do very well in Uttar Pradesh. Our success here means that Third Front would form the next Government at the Centre and Congress should show big heart and support Third Front," Yadav told The Pioneer here.

He said Congress does not have many options before it. "The people have rejected Congress and BJP in this election. The regional parties are doing well in their

respective states and they would join hands to form a Third Front. The Congress should support this Third Front to stop the march of communal Bharatiya Janata Party", Yadav, who is also state president of the party, said.

There are many permutation and combination that are being floated by the political parties in case BJP-led NDA falls short of the magic number of 272+. They are debating on the contours of the Third Front and who would join this conglomeration. Whosoever be the members of this Third Front, one thing is clear that Congress support is mandatory for its survival.

Akhilesh also knows it. So in the middle of the election campaign he has started talking about Congress giving support to the Third Front. "Two meetings have been held among the constituents of Third Front. Neta ji (Mulayam

Singh Yadav) had attended those meetings. It is clear that the constituent which wins the maximum number of seats will have the say in selecting Prime Minister," he said stopping short of saying that Uttar Pradesh being the largest state that elects 80 MPs, chances of Mulayam Singh becoming next PM is very bright.

"And Samajwadi Party is set to sweep Uttar Pradesh," he said.

But what about Narendra Modi waveIJ "Where is the waveIJ Three phase of polling is over in Uttar Pradesh and I have not seen the wave.  This so-called wave is only in newspapers, news magazines and electronic news channels. In the ground people are talking about the development work Samajwadi Party has done in last two years. What we did in this short of span of time no party can dream of doing it in even in five years," he said.

In fact, Government schemes are the talking point for Akhilesh Yadav in his rallies. Everywhere he talks about the distribution of laptops among the class XII pass students, payment of unemployment allowances to jobless youth, social welfare schemes for the minority like Hamari Beti Uska Kal and revival of Kanya Dhan project.

"look people also know that only Uttar Pradesh Government can deliver goods. Some people talk about Gujarat model. It is nothing but a farce. So, it is better for

the Congress to see the writing on the wall and support Third Front," he said.
