SP to EC: Send back BJP cadre from other states camping in UP

PNS

Samajwadi Party has urged the Election Commission of India to enforce the Covid protocol and prevent Bharatiya Janata Party cadre from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh from camping in Uttar Pradesh and direct them to go back to their respective states.

The SP has also demanded the transfer of the bureaucrats who are close to the BJP.

“The trained the committed BJP cadres are spreading rumours, hatred and are distributing money. Unless the BJP cadres from other states are sent back free and fair polls are not possible in UP,” SP president Akhilesh Yadav said on Sunday.

Addressing party workers at the SP state office here on the occasion of the joining of former BJP minister Dara Singh Chauhan and others, Akhilesh Yadav said, “BJP is a huge threat to democracy, socialism and communal harmony and the common people should come forward to dislodge the BJP from power.”

Meanwhile, a high-voltage drama was witnessed in front of Samajwadi Party office as a party leader attempted suicide by self-immolation on being denied a ticket for the assembly poll.

SP candidate Aditya Thakur tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol on himself outside the Samajwadi Party office in Lucknow. Drenched in petrol, he attempted self-immolation but was rescued by the police. Thakur broke into tears, saying that he had spent his entire youth serving the Samajwadi Party but was denied a ticket to fight the election. He wanted to contest from Aligarh's Chharra constituency.

"I spent my entire youth fighting for the party. I have been doing groundwork for the last five years to prepare the party for the election. But they did not give me a ticket. I will commit suicide, you can arrest me but I will do it," Thakur said before fainting.

A similar outcry was witnessed last week by a Bahujan Samaj Party leader, who claimed that the party denied him a ticket despite taking a bribe of Rs 67 lakh for the seat. Arshad Rana, the BSP leader from Charthawal city in Muzaffarnagar, was seen crying bitterly and accusing the BSP of deception in a viral video.
