The Samajwadi Party has termed the victory of its eight candidates in the State legislative Council elections as the victory of secular and democratic forces and defeat party spreading communal hatred in Uttar Pradesh. SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhry said in a statement issued here on Friday that the elections results are clear indicative of legislators still reposing full faith on the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav.
“BJP it seems has not learnt its lesson from past mistakes. It lost all the bye-elections, lost Cantonment Board polls and now the council polls. It is now clear that BJP does not enjoy support of any party. It stands isolated in the State Assembly,” Chaudhry, who is also cabinet rank minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government said.
He said BJP tried horse trading and even lured legislators by promising party tickets in 2017 assembly election. But the SP legislators refused to bite the bait. This shows democracy has won in this election. “Not only people even the legislators have ignored BJP. It is the right time for the party to realize Modi magic has evaporated. BJP cannot lure people by false promises anymore,” he said.
