The Samajwadi Party on Tuesday released another list of 37 candidates thus casting cloud over the pre-poll alliance with the Congress, which was announced after marathon negotiations on Sunday. State SP chief Naresh Uttam announced the list of candidates in lucknow on Monday.
As per the deal, the SP is to contest 298 seats and the Congress field its candidates in rest of the 105 seats. But with the new list of 37 candidates, the total number of SP candidates in the fray has gone up to 326, 28 more than its quota.
“ There is no confusion over the alliance. If at all there is some misunderstanding, it will be cleared as Samajwadi Party will withdraw some of its candidates announced for the first two phases of Assembly polls. Those seats would go to the Congress as per the alliance announced on Sunday,’’ said state SP chief Naresh Uttam.
In the latest SP list, Mulayam Singh’s daighter-in-law Aparna Yadav has been fielded from lucknow Cantonment seat while the party has denied ticket to sitting MlA and minister Vijay Mishra from Ghazipur and former minister Shadab Fatima also from Ghazipur. Both were camp followers of former state SP chief Shivpal Yadav.
In the new list, the SP has announced candidates in four seats of lucknow and three of Kannauj. Sitting MlA and minister of state Ravidas Mehrotra and Abhishek Mishra will contest from lucknow (Central) and lucknow (North) respectively.
The party has also changed candidates in three seats. Abdhul Shahnawaj will be the candidate in Saharanpur (Rural) seat replacing Gufran Ahmed, Meera Bano will be the new candidate from Sringar seat of lakhimpur Kheri in place of Rama Sharan and Surbi will be in the fray replacing Amit Kumar in Kayamganj seat of Farrukabad.
Senior SP leader and minister Balram Yadav’s son Sangram Singh Yadav has been fielded from Ataraulia assembly seat in Azamgarh. There was some confusion over the name of Akhilesh Yadav from Mubarakpur seat of Azamgarh. This was putto rest by state SP chief Naresh Uttam who said that the CM will not contest elections and the candidate from Mubarakpur was a different person.
The latest list of candidates include Arvind Singh Yadav—Chabramau, Vijay Bahadur Pal -Tirva, Anil Dohre—Kannauj (SC), Mohammad Rehan - lucknow West, Abhishek Mishra— lucknow North, Ravidas Mehrotra - lucknow Central, Aparna Yadav—lucknow Cantonment, Chandra Prakash lodhi -Fatehpur, laxmikant alias Pappu Nishad —Medhawal, Algu Chauhan - Ghanghata (SC), Amrendra Nishad - Piparaich, Vijay Bahadur Yadav-Gorakhpur Rural, Sangram Singh Yadav—Ataraulia and Nafis Ahmed —Gopalpur.
Other candidates are Abhay Narain Singh - Sagri, Akhilesh Yadav - Mubarakpur, Durga Prasad Yadav - Azamgarh, Alam Badi— Nizamabad, Shyam Bahadur Singh - Phulpur Pawai, Adil Sheikh—Didarganj, Bechai Saroj—lalganj (SC), Kalpnath Saroj –Mehnagar ( SC), Sanatan Pandey—Rasra, Jagdish Sonkar—Machillishara-(SC), Shradha Yadav—Mardihau and Sachindra Nath Tripathi —Zafarabad).
The list also includes Gulab Chandra Saroj—Kerakat (SC), Rakesh Kushawaha —Ghazipur, Virendra Yadav—Jangipur, Mahendra Chauhan —Zahurabad, Babu lal Yadav—Mugalsarai, Prabhu Narain Singh—Sakaldiha, Manoj Kumar Singh —Sayeedraja, Poonam Sonker—Chakia(SC), lalji Sonkar—Ajagra (SC) Mahendra Singh Patel—Rohania and Surendra Singh Patel—Sevapuri.
