Samajwadi Party leaders evaded the Kairana issue on Friday when they were confronted with the questions by the media about the action taken by the Samajwadi party government following the notice issued by the National Human rights commission (NHRC) over the migration of the terror stricken Hindus from the town in Shamli district in last four years by the Hindu community in last four years.

Samajwadi Party leader and the minority affairs minister Azam Khan said `` I have no idea about the migration of the Hindu community from kairana in Shamli district’’.  When told that the BJP MP from Kairana Hukum Singh  has held a press conference and  complained to the  NHRC who has issued notice to the state government  he said  `` Hukum Singh is an accused in 2013 Muzaffarnagar communal riots  and the case is still  pending and the charge sheet is yet to be filed against him’’.

Referring to the Dadri incident of September 2014, he said `` none can rival the BJP in muscle power, they can produce anything from the refrigerator and can also arrange a tailor made report from the laboratory’’.   He also commented that ``by fielding Preeti Mahapatra from Gujarat, the BJP has rekindled has given a clear message to the muslims by reviving the memories of the 2002 post Godhra riots in Gujarat’’.

SP’s Rajya Sabha candidate  Amar Singh  said  "by raising the issue of migration of Hindus from Kairana  under alleged threat from the muslims,  the BJP is creating template in Uttar Pradesh for causing communal polarisation ahead of the state assembly elections in 2017..  He added `` instead of creating controversy over Kairana, the BJP should concentrate on the migration of the Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir valley which is still continuing despite the BJP supported government in Jammu And Kashmir."

PWD Minister and state in charge of the Samajwadi party Shivpal Yadav  refused to entertain any questions on migration of Hindu community from Kairana  said `` elections to the Rajya Sabha is the most important issue today and let’s talk only about that’’.

The NHRC has sought a report within four weeks from the Akhilesh Yadav government on Friday following allegations that 250 Hindu families were forced to leave Kairana town in Shamli district because of extortion threats and murder of several businessman for their refusal to pay the extortion money.

Terming the allegations as “serious in nature”, the commission also directed its deputy inspector general (investigation) to send a team for a spot inquiry and submit a report in two weeks. The move came on a complaint that a Hindu woman was gang-raped and murdered in the town recently but police didn’t arrest the suspects because of political pressure.

In 2014, two businessmen --Shankar and his brother Raju -- were shot dead in broad daylight after they refused to pay money to an alleged Muslim gang, the complaint also said.

The local BJP member of Parliament, Hukum Singh, has claimed more than 250 Hindu families migrated from the city in the last two years following an alleged spike in crime against the community. The BJP has also sent a team of party MPs to Kairana. Police admitted to a few cases of extortion but said the bulk of the migration was because of a lack of jobs in the area.  The police  rejected allegations that the local administration was working under pressure from the Muslim community.
