The State Unit of Bharatiya Janata party said that the ruling Samajwadi Party Government has issued a veiled threat to officials to tow party lines otherwise they would face the music.
"The way party’s national president Mulayam Singh Yadav has threatened his ministers saying if party candidate loses election from their district he (minister) would be taken to task shows that Yadav Sr was also intimidating the official posted in that district as District Magistrate," BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Tuesday.
In his daily press briefing he said that threatening to minister will percolate down to officials. The concerned minister will definitely put the official on the leash. "This shows that Samajwadi Party knows that it is losing ground in Uttar Pradesh and therefore has put conditions on the ministers," he said.
While addressing party workers here on Monday Yadav Sr. had warned his ministers to ensure victory of party candidates in their respective constituencies saying if the candidate loses action would be taken against the minister concerned.
"The Akhilesh Yadav Government has proved a failure. The people voted SP to power with a hope that this young Chief Minister would be able to usher in development in the state. But their hopes were dashed," he said.
