SP family 'mahabharat' blocked development in UP: CM Yogi

Hands over appointment letters to 271 BEOs

Launching a broadside against the Samajwadi Party government, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the previous regime was a period of corruption, familism, casteism and neglect of merit among the recruits.

The chief minister said, "Between 2012 and 2017, appointments to government posts in Uttar Pradesh were distributed among the members of a family. One appointment process was looked after by an uncle and the other was allotted to a nephew, maternal uncle, or maternal grandfather."

Comparing the SP with the characters of Mahabharata, Yogi Adityanath said that as Kaka-Mama-Nana blocked the progress of India during Mahabharata, in the same way, this family (Samajwadi Party) remained an impediment to the progress of Uttar Pradesh.

"We have ensured all fairness and transparency in your appointment. Merit is only the basis of government jobs. Now, no one can say that he has given a bribe to get the job," the chief minister said while handing over appointment letters to 271 block education officers on Saturday.

The Yogi Adityanath-led government has also set a record by providing government jobs to four lakh youths in a fair and impartial manner in the last four years.

"This is the highest in any four consecutive years since 1950. Many states may not have had so many appointments in decades," the chief minister said.

Congratulating the newly-appointed block education officers who joined the Basic Education Council after getting appointment in a fair and transparent manner, the chief minister mentioned corruption that took place in the various Selection Commissions/Recruitment Boards of the state during the previous regimes.

He said, "Earlier, every appointment was made by looking at caste and religion. Many times, apart from providing jobs, these people used to search grooms for their daughters and sisters."

"The Bharatiya Janata Party government in UP gave a clear warning to the recruitment commissions that they had complete freedom for their work, but if complaint of any kind of irregularity was received, the entire commission would be acted upon," he pointed out.

"The result of these efforts is that today no one can say that he got a job from any kind of 'jugaad' (source)," the chief minister said, and enquired from the youths if they gave bribe or made recommendations anywhere during the entire selection process.

While delivering the appointment letter, the chief minister told the block officers that as competitive students, they witnessed the methodology they had expected from the government and now after being a part of the system they should work in the same way. He said that if the job was received honestly, there should be honesty in the work as well.

While addressing the newly appointed block education officers, the chief minister said that now it was their work to take these tasks forward. He said the development block was their command area, and they (BEOs) were responsible for every educational activity. He also asked the officers to inform the higher officials about their innovations and good works. The officers should be in constant touch with children and develop a sense of healthy competition among them, he added.

It may be mentioned here that the departmental minister credited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the achievements of the last four years in the field of primary education and said that the new UP of New India had emerged under his leadership.

After the Yogi Adityanath government assumed office, as many as 1.20 lakh jobs were provided in the Basic Education Council while appointments on 1.37 lakh posts were done in the police force. The government has also established three new PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) companies in addition to the 54 which were shut down by the previous governments, an official government spokesman claimed.

The spokesman claimed that teamwork has led to the rejuvenation of primary education in the last four years. Today, the training of teachers is taking place. Under Operation Kayakalp, all the classes have undergone upgradation and have been equipped with modern facilities. With the efforts of the Yogi government to improve the Basic Education Department, the primary schools have witnessed an increase of over 54 lakh students, according to the spokesman.
