SP enacting a political drama to woo Brahmins, says Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati slammed the Samajwadi Party for enacting a “political drama” to woo the Brahmins by celebrating the birth anniversary of late socialist leader Janeshwar Mishra on Thursday.

However, she paid hearty tributes to the late socialist ideologue on his birth anniversary.

In a couple of tweets posted on Thursday, the BSP chief alleged, "After the immense success of BSP's ‘Prabuhdha Varg Sammelan’ (intellectual seminars) in all districts of Uttar Pradesh, the SP has now started recourse to remembering Shri Janeshwar Mishra and his society persecuted by the BJP government. All this is a drama for political selfishness and cheap popularity. Or else what?"

In another tweet, Mayawati lamented, "The park named after Janeshwar Mishra in Lucknow was built by the BSP government in the name of Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. Due to casteist thinking and hatred, its name was also changed like the names of some districts etc. What kind of honor is this?”

The Samajwadi Party took out a cycle yatra across the state to mark the birth anniversary of late Janeshwar Mishra, highlighting the failures of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, the party had also announced the installation of a statue of Lord Parshuram at the SP headquarters besides organising conferences for upper caste voters.
