Sparing the BSP, Samajwadi Party leeaders attacked the BJP in its political resolution passed at the party’s national convention at Agra comparing Prime Minister with Hitler and even termed the BJP as ‘a party that thrived on divisive politics and spread lies for political gains’.
“The BJP is thriving on propaganda machinery as once done by Hitler. It used the media to spread lies and tampered EVMs to win elections. This party believes in dividing society on communal lines with just one aim - win elections,” SP secretary general Ram Gopal Yadav said while presenting the political and economic resolutions at Agra on Thursday.
Surprisingly, the SP did not attack Bahujan Samaj Party thus keeping the door open for a possible `mahagathbandhan’ ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The political resolution talked about misuse of power by the ruling party at the Centre and Uttar Pradesh to lure law makers into the BJP and attempts being made to topple elected governments. The resolution supported non-Bjp governments in West Bengal and Kerala while questioned the political situation in Bihar where Nitish Kumar switched sides.
The resolution also alleged that the BJP government was targeting lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members. “It is a shame that the BJP sometimes considers itself bigger than democracy. In this situation, even the media was playing to the tunes of the government and was not projecting an honest picture of the country,” the SP said in its resolution adding: “The four pillars of democracy have changed to CBI, ED, income tax and FEMA.”.
It also raised the poor international policy of the Modi government and claimed that soldiers were being martyred everyday. The resolution also demanded an end to Naxalism. “Naxalism is a bigger threat than terrorism, especially in Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and parts of Maharashtra, while extremism was a problem in the north-east. No attempt is being made to find out the cause and evole a solution,” the resolution said.
In UP, the SP resolutions alleged harassment of party workers by the Yogi government and demanded end to such atrocities immediately.
The economic resolution raised the prevailing unemployment situation in the country and attacked the Centre on demotisation and GST.
“Unemployment has increased in comparison to 2013 which shows the real picture of the situation. Ban on appointments by the government is the real reason for unemployment,” it alleged.
“The government is protecting the interest of capitalists. The government which has implemented GST never returned to power. The US and Canada and other countries are glaring examples of this. The Modi government awaits a similar fate,” it said.
later both political and economic resolutions were passed by voice vote. Earlier in the day, former MP Prof Ramji lal Suman gave away the welcome address.
