SP, BSP to use joint flags

After fixing the electoral arithmetic and forging an alliance, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party are now focusing on electoral chemistry for uniting party cadres. The two allies have brought out joint flags to encourage party workers to work in coordination. “We have made a beginning by promoting solidarity between the two parties. Already, flags of both the parties are being used at meetings of either party. In times to come, you will see more such efforts by both parties,” said Samajwadi Party MLC Sunil Sajan.

In the recent past, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav repeatedly asked party cadres to respect BSP chief Mayawati and encouraged party workers to work in coordination with the ally.

BSP chief Mayawati also reciprocated Akhilesh' gesture asking her party workers to pay equal respect to the SP chief.

A vendor selling flags and other poll campaign material outside the Bahujan Samaj Party office said that party leaders, who previously opted to buy separate party flags, were now opting to buy joint flags.

He said that after both parties announced their alliance on January 12, the demand for joint flags had spiked. The demand will increase once seats are announced by both parties and some clarity surfaces about probable candidates.
