With Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has started meeting with the Party leaders of his parliamentary constituency during his on-going three days tour, Party president Sonia Gandhi is slated to visit her Rae Bareli constituency for two days from May 22. However, the politics in the Amethi-Rae Bareli region would escalate due to the presence of Rahul and Sonia Gandhi besides BJP Rajya Sabha member and Union Human Resources Development minister Smriti Irani is also expected to visit Amethi on May 26.
Rahul Gandhi, who embarked upon his three days visit to Amethi from Monday, had already launched a tirade against the Narendra Modi government. On Tuesday, the Congress vice-president will attend a function at Sangrampur to inaugurate some developmental schemes and Wednesday, he would be chairing the district vigilance and monitoring committee meet. Meanwhile Congress president Sonia Gandhi would also visit her Rae Bareli constituency for two days from May 22. Party sources here confirmed that Sonia Gandhi will hold Janata Darshan and attend the meeting of the district vigilance and monitoring committee. She would reach Rae Barely in the morning of May 22 and will distribute compensation cheque to the affected farmers in the un-seasonal rains. She will also tour some villages and will review the works done under her MPlAD funds.
In the evening the Congress president will meet the party workers at her Bhua Mau guest house which will continue again in the next morning. Sonia Gandhi will hold the meeting of the district vigilance and monitoring committee meet on the ongoing Central projects. Thereafter she will leave for New Delhi. On the other hand BJP leaders in Amethi said on Tuesday that Smriti Irani is expected to visit again on May 26 when she will launch the insurance scheme for the poor and projects of the Central government.
