Some people trying to spread confusion over Kumbh: Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that some people were trying to spread confusion over the Kumbh even when the Unesco had termed it as one of the rare heritages spreading the message of brotherhood and harmony.

“Some intellectuals say Kumbh is against environment, Dalits, women etc. but I want to ask how can it be so in a country which offers prayers to tulsi, bargad (banyan), peepal and never cuts them as they are revered and contribute in maintaining environment,” the Chief Minister said, adding that such baseless allegations were made even when Unesco had given Kumbh the status of a rare ‘dharohar’ (heritage) of the world.

“Many people in the country had sacrificed their lives to save Akshayvat even then we are said to be against environment,” Yogi said, adding that he had personally visited two Kumbhs so far and found the feeling of brotherhood and harmony there.

Yogi Adityanath made these remarks while inaugurating a two-day Samrasta Kumbh  function which began on the new campus of Awadh University in Faizabad on Saturday. Over 3,200 participants were present there.

Yogi also hailed Narendra Modi and claimed that the Prime Minister had worked hard to get the Kumbh recognised by the Unesco as a rare heritage.

He said that no other epic could match Ramayana written by Maharishi Valmiki, but still people gave authority to write history to those who were just two thousand years old.

“Who laid the foundation of Ram rajya, who were Hanuman, Shabari etc? The  irony is that instead of reading the epics and old literature, the youths today are gathering history with the help of Google,” Yogi said, while questioning the fake information about religion and history spread on basis of facts uploaded from Google or seen in other social media sites.

He also said the ‘katha vachak ki gaddi (seat of narrators) always remained to ‘Vyas’ but they had forgotten that tradition.

The Chief Minister also targeted Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his recent love for Hindus and their gods. He said that to take political mileage from religion, Rahul Gandhi had started revealing his ‘gotra’ in public meetings and was even showing his ‘janeu’ (sacred thread).
