Amar Singh, the former high profile general secretary of the Samajwadi Party has advised his bête noire Azam Khan to drop the idea of going to UN as he would again be subjected to humiliation of strip search at the US airport. Targeting Azam Khan  for taking the Dadri issue to UN , the former SP leader said , the minority affairs minister of UP has violated the Constitution and challenged the sovereignty of the country by taking a domestic matter to an international forum.  Condemning Azam for writing to UN on Dadri issue the former SP leader said RsRsit unacceptable, it’s our internal matter of India and of UP, and can be settled by the state government’’.

In April 2013 Azam Khan had accompanied the chief minister akhilesh Yadav to a US trip for making a presentation and delivers a lecture in Harvard University over the successful hosting of the Kumbh mela at Allahabad.  Azam Khan was allegedly subjected to humiliation at Boston's logan Airport in America. In protest, Khan, had decided to come back after a 'short stay'. On returning to India Azam Khan had said that he was deeply hurt by the humiliation at the airport. Azam Khan was reportedly questioned and harassed at Boston airport by the officials despite the fact that he had a diplomatic passport. Khan claimed that he was insulted and harassed only because he was a Muslim.

Dismissing the speculation over his home coming to the Samajwadi party he said RsRs there is no question of returning to SP, I was expelled from the party on my birthday in 2010. they would have not expelled me for the party if they wanted to retain me’’.  He added, “I was expelled at the behest of Azam Khan from the party’’.

Ahead of the 2009 lok Sabha polls Amar Singh was the key architect of electoral alliance of the Samajwadi party with the SP. Muslims deserted the SP in droves  and Azam Khan also rebelled against the party and was expelled from the party soon after the conclusion of the polls in may 2009.  Amar Singh was expelled from the SP after the party suffered from series of setbacks including defeat of Dimple Yadav, wife of the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, in by-election to Firozabad lok Sabha seat.  Both Amar Singh and jayaprada had contested the 2014 lok Sabha election as Rashtriya lok Dal candidate from Bijnor and Fatehpur Sikri respectively.

Amar Singh who along with the former SP MP Jayaprada and Boni Kapoor, was at Vindhyachal temple at Mirzapur on Tuesday for darshan on the first day of Navratri said RsRs there should be no dispute over the personal preference over clothing and eating, few years ago a parliamentary delegation had gone to Glasgow and the members of the delegation had consumed both –beef and pork –for them it was not Cow and Pig but pork and beef’’. He added RsRs the delegation members had heated debate over the issue but none killed each other. Jaya Bacchan had then said like freedom of expression there should be freedom to what one likes’’.
