Giving a hint of reviving his own Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia), Shivpal Singh Yadav said that he would form the committees of his party afresh because the Samajwadi Party leaders did not treat him as their leader and did not have faith in him.
“Much water has flown down the river Gomati since elections were held in which I won the poll from Jaswantnagar as Samajwadi Party candidate. I have a feeling that the Samajwadi Party leaders are ignoring me. They do not treat me as their leader anymore. There seems to be a lack of trust between me and them,” Shivpal Yadav said here on Thursday.
“Against this backdrop, I have decided to reconstitute different committees of the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia). We will work to strengthen the party organisation at the ground as well as district levels. We have a good team. But before that we need to revive the committees,” he said.
Last month Shivpal Yadav had dissolved all the committees of the PSPL after the UP assembly election in which the SP received a drubbing. There was indication that Shivpal and his party would merge with the Samajwadi Party. Insiders also said that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had assured his chacha that he would be made the leader of Samajwadi Legislature Party in the Uttar Pradesh assembly.
However, later, Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the Lok Sabha and was elected as leader of the SP Legislature Party and the chasm between the chacha-bhatija widened. Since then, there are rumours that Shivpal Yadav would join the Bharatiya Janata Party or would be made deputy speaker in the Vidhan Sabha.
About his meeting with senior SP leader Mohammad Azam Khan, who is also angry with Akhilesh Yadav’s style of politics, Shivpal Yadav had said they had a long meeting in the Sitapur jail. “We discussed a lot of things, which I cannot reveal at this time. I am waiting for the release of Azam bhai from jail. We will take a decision at an appropriate time,” Shivpal Yadav had said, throwing a hint of possible tie-up with Azam Khan.
