Putting nephew and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on a notice, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) national president Shivpal Singh Yadav threatened that he would not wait for an alliance with the SP beyond October 11.

Earlier, Shivpal Yadav had hinted that he had spoken to the Samajwadi Party but had not discussed seat sharing.

"If there is no response from Akhilesh Yadav on the alliance till October 11, then I will start preparing to field my party's candidate on all 403 assembly seats of Uttar pradesh," Shivpal announced in Etawah on Tuesday.

Earlier, the PSPL chief had announced to launch a Rath Yatra from Mathura after offering prayer at Banke Bihari temple on October 12. During the Rath Yatra, Shivpal plans to stay for the night in every district of the state.

Shivpal Yadav was a cabinet minister in the Samajwadi Party governments led by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav but parted ways before the 2017 assembly polls due to severe differences with his nephew Akhilesh. On his part, the SP chief had announced to enter the fray with smaller parties in the 2022 assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Shivpal Yadav’s son Aditya Yadav was elected chairman of District Cooperative Bank in Etawah in place of his father. Sources in PSPL said that Aditya might contest election from Jaswantnagar in place of his father while Shivpal might contest polls from Gunnaur in Budaun district.
