Giving a Thumbs Up to the Yogi Government, BJP president Amit Shah said that he was satisfied with its performance and sought some time to further improve law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.

“The Yogi government has been working overtime to improve the law and order situation but we should give more time because the BJP Government inherited an administration which was highly politicized. I am sure that the situation will improve,” Shah said while addressing media persons in lucknow on Monday.

Shah said that people have started feeling the change as the tide was turning towards betterment. “The rot of the previous SP and BSP governments cannot be wiped out in a minsicule time frame of three months. We need to give more time to the government,” the BJP president said.

Shah was on a three-day visit to lucknow where he had a series of meetings with senior party leaders, ministers and heads of different cells. He evaluated the performance of the government and even chalked out strategies for the 2019 lok Sabha elections.

“The BJP government has a clear agenda. It is not in a hurry to implement projects like Purvanchal Expressway. You have seen what had happened in the previous regime. The Metro was launched in a hurry without evaluating whether it was feasible to start a commercial run,” the BJP leader said.

Shah gave a point by point rebuttal to Opposition parties that the Modi Government did not help previous state governments. Earlier, BSP chief Mayawati had claimed that BJP governments in the Centre and the state have not benefited Uttar Pradesh.

Shah came well prepared and gave details about additional funds given to Uttar Pradesh by the Modi government in the last three years.

“ The Narendra Modi government has provided Rs 6.57 lakh crore more to the state under different heads which is 2.3 times more than what the previous UPA government gave to the state,” said he.

Churning out figures, Shah saidd that under the 13th Finance Commission, Uttar Pradesh got Rs 2,80,467 crore which rose to Rs  7.10 lakh crore.

“Financial help to UP under different heads during UPA regime was 24000 crore which rose to Rs 48,000 crore during the NDA regime. Similarly, Disaster Relief Fund increased from Rs 1597 crore in UPA regime to Rs 2797 crore in NDA rule. There is 88 per cent increase in local body fund. In all, 106 schemes have been introduced in UP and the increase in last three years is Rs 6.57 lakh crore,” Shah pointed out.

Claiming that his visit to UP was just to review organisational setup before the 2019 lok Sabha poll, Shah said that the BJP will sweep the next lok Sabha elections. “Narendra Modi will form the next government at the Centre. There is no opposition to the BJP,” he said.

When asked about the appointment of a new state BJP president as the present incumbent Keshav Prasad Maurya has completed his tenure and was also Deputy Chief Minister in the Yogi government, the BJP chief said that the issue has been discussed and soon a new president will be appointed.

“Once we will have a new president, Maurya will dedicate himself in government work,” Shah said, ending speculations about Maurya being shifted to the Centre. Both, the CM and Maurya were present in the press meet when Sah clarified this.

“The biggest achievement of this BJP government has been of ending dynastic politics, casteism and appeasement policies practised by the previous governments,” Shah said.
