Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member and UP in-charge Sanjay Singh said that the Baba (Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath) remained stuck in making the election 80 per cent versus 20 per cent instead of improving law and order in Uttar Pradesh.
Campaigning for AAP candidates in Lucknow on Thursday, Singh held the Yogi government responsible for the spurt in incidents of crime and rape against women in the state and cited the Jajmau incident in which a woman was gangraped and them was dumped in a field after slashing her wrists. He demanded an explanation from the Chief Minister on this issue.
The AAP leader said that the BJP and its leaders pretend to be good at providing safety to women and people but lack the ability to provide safety to the people. In a tweet, Singh posted, "Incidents of rape were headlines every day in the newspapers but Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stuck to 80 per cent versus 20 per cent divisive rhetoric. In the Jajmau incident, miscreants raped the woman, then cut her wrist before dumping her in a field and looted her gold chain."
The AAP leader alleged that there were several numeorus cases in which the police did not come to help the victims even after being requested repeatedly and cited the Hathras and Khushi Dubey incidents.
“The women demanding jobs had to get their heads shaved off as a mark of protest but the government did not bat an eyelid at their sufferings. They can just make tall talks and to provide safety to the people of UP is beyond their capability," he said. Singh campaigned for AAP candidates in Cantonment, Lucknow West and Lucknow North constituencies and appealed to the people to vote for AAP for a clean government.
