Pioneer News Service, PS

In a first major exercise after arrest of three MlAs, state government on Tuesday slapped National Security Act (NSA) against Sangeet Som in the case registered against him for uploading objectionable video leading to communal violence in Muzaffarnagar.

The move was reportedly made as prime minister during it his inaugural speech during National Integration Council (NIC) meet in New Delhi showed his serious concern over misuse of social networking sites and UP chief minister

Akhilesh also supported his stand. We have booked Sangeet Som under NSA in connection with the case registered against him under Section 66A of Information Technology Act for uploading a video which resulted into communal clash", disclosed IG (law and order) RK Vishwakarma while briefing the media persons here on Tuesday evening. The warrant under the NSA was served to the BJP MlA in Orai District jail. Interestingly former MP and Congress leader Saeeduzaman, against whom a NBW has been already issued by a local court in

Muzaffarnagar sent a CD to principal secretary (Home) RM Srivastava in his defence. He asked RM Srivastava to examine the CD which showed that he said nothing objectionable which could cause damage to communal harmony. When contacted, RM Srivastava confirmed that the CD was provided to Muzaffarnagar police for cross-examination.

Vishwakarma further said that to investigate all the 106 cases registered in connection with riots in Muzaffarnagar, a Special Investigation Cell (SIC) comprising of one SP rank, two additional SP rank, three Deputy SP rank, and 20 inspectors/sub-inspectors already started working under direct supervision of IG of Meerut Range and DIG of Saharanpur range. The SIC was reportedly headed by SP KN Mishra, who earlier remained in controversy and was also removed from Cooperative Cell of the UP Police during investigation of recent multi-crore rupees scam in lACCFED. RK Vishwakarma further said that the SIC have been directed to use scientific method in their investigation.

Meanwhile ,Bahujan Samaj Party MlA Noor Saleem Rana and BJP MlA Suresh Rana , arrested for their alleged involvement in inciting communal violence in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas were granted bail by a local court in Muzaffarnagar. Earlier the court had rejected the interim bail of the BSP MlA and sent him to jail for 14 days. Presently he is at Mirzapur jail.  BJP MlA Suresh Rana is presently lodged at Banda jail. When RK Vishwakarma was asked that how the two MlAs got bail and whether the police failed to provide sufficient evidence which paved way for bail for the duo, he said that the investigation is still in primarily stage but they got bail only one of the cases so they will ensure their detention in other cases.

Meanwhile BJP legislature party leader Hukum Singh, who is also an accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots criticised the state government for invoking of NSA against Sangeet Singh. "The government has started a -terrorism chakravyuh- by punishing the people fighting for the cause of the majority community," he alleged. Hukum  Singh, who is in Shamli, is rushing to lucknow later to night as the case of NSA has to be confirmed by a High Court board.
