Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that UP Rural Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Saifai would be made one of the premium institutes of the country and would be equipped to treat serious ailments.
The announcement was made during the core meeting of the UPRIMS held in Etawah on Tuesday. The Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was also present in the meeting.
Members of the core committee also discussed at length about the setting up of Emergency, Trauma and Burn centres in the hospital. The CM had recently announced the construction of a 500-bed hospital and night shelters for the attendants.
"The state government has released 50 per cent of the sanctioned fund and I assure you that cash would not be any hurdle in creating the one-of-its-kind institute in this area," said Chief Minister at the meeting held at PWD Guest House.
The members also discussed the appointment of regular teachers and ad hoc faculty members. Stress was also given to implement single policy in the appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff.
"In view of the increase in number of patients, the state government has also increased beds in the highly specialized hospital. Besides, specialists have been appointed and the strength of paramedics has also been increased to meet the rush," Chief Minister said.
SP national chief Mulayam Singh Yadav stressed on making this institute one of the best in the country. "It should be equipped with modern machines and have best minds who can operate it. Such should be the position of this hospital that patients from neighbouring states should come here for treatment," Mulayam Singh Yadav said and
added : "The mantra of this institute should be that better and cheap treatment be available here."
Principal Secretary, Medical Education JP Sharma and Secretary to Chief Minister, Anita Singh were also present in this meeting.
