Even as some BJP motormouth have been baying for Shahrukh Khan’s blood, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has come out in support of the Bollywood star saying he is not a traitor.

RSS Avadh Sarsangh Chalak, Prabhu Narain said that asking Khan to leave the country and calling him a traitor was wrong.

“He is not a traitor. He is respectable Indian and has all the rights to stay in India. But at the same time his statement on intolerance is also inappropriate,” Narain told the media in lucknow on Thursday.

The RSS leader said, “ Khan should avoid issuing such statements as he is an icon for the Indian youth. They look up to him for motivation. Every word that he speaks in public is taken seriously by the youth community. So, he should be cautious with his statements.”

When asked about the scathing statement of party MP Yogi Adityanath and VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi targeting Khan, Narain said that these leaders are not part of RSS and hence the Sangh ‘has no control over them’.

The RSS leader also alleged that senior leaders of different groups like lalu Prasad Yadav, Digvijay Singh, Asaduddin Owaisi, Irfan Habib and Mohammad Azam Khan have encouraged separatists by giving intemperate statements.

Charging these leaders of attemtping to destroy Indian culture by issuing irresponsible statements, he urged the people to be wary of such leaders who are unnecessarily highlighting increasing intolerance,” Narain said.

Briefing about the outcome of the recent meeting of All India Working Committee of RSS, he said that the committee has proposed to send a proposal to the Union government to bridge a gap in the rate of increase in population. “The Sangh demanded that the Union government should formulate a law on population that should be applicable for all Indians,” he informed.

Narain said that to popularize RSS among the youth, the Sangh has launched a website coined ‘Join RSS’ and the number of youths joining the outfit has increased since the launch.
