Aiming to win support of backward Muslims, Rashtriya lok Dal (RlD) is gearing up to organise Muslim youth conferences across UP from next month.

According to party sources, responsibility to organise Muslim conclaves, targeting Samajwadi party for neglecting the promises it had made to Muslims during previous assembly polls has been given to a Ghaziabad based cleric Maulana Kari Mustfa Dehalwi.

Maulana Dehalwi along with former RlD legislative party leader in state assembly Kokab Hameed and legislative Council member Chaudhary Haji Mustaq will tour across he state to organise agitation around Muslim issues, including implication of Muslim youth in false terror cases, which may continue till announcement of next lok Sabha elections, the party sources said.

RlD state party president Munna Singh Chauhan on Thursday said, Maulana Dehalwi was likely to be appointed national secretary after being inducted in the party.

Through Muslim youth conferences, RlD will target Samajwadi party which had promised extending 18 percent quota to OBC Muslims. After formation of majority government in UP, which was not possible without support of Muslims, Samajwadi party leaders have deliberately kept this issue on back burner, he said.

RlD state president said, the party have already launched a campaign for quota to OBC Muslims proportionate to their population in UP which would soon gain momentum with conferences being organised at district level.

Alleging Samajwadi party government for indulging in mere lip service for Muslim welfare, Chauhan said, despite over a year being passed Akhlesh Yadav government was yet to constitute major government minority bodies which shows real approach of SP towards Muslims.
