Criticising the BJP and its frontal outfits for holding Dharma Sabha at Ayodhya, state Rashtriya Lok Dal spokesman Surendra Nath Trivedi said that the ruling party and its subsidiaries held the programme on November 24 and 25 aiming to intimidate members of the other community.
Trivedi demanded that sedition charges be slapped against leaders who were trying to divide people on religious lines. “Statement made by Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader that disputed land petitioner should withdraw his claim or the VHP would move for Kashi and Mathura was evidently aimed at terrifying Muslims. It also reflected that the BJP and its outfits had no respect for the Indian Constitution,” he said.
Trivedi said that the issue of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri masjid was sub judice in the apex court and such statements were clearly an issue of contempt.
“Nobody is against the construction of Ram temple. But the BJP has deliberately made it a political issue to brighten its chances at the 2019 Lok Sabha poll as it fears that it may face defeat due to its faulty policies and hollow promises,” he said. The RLD leader thanked Ayodhya natives for ensuring peace and harmony despite the atmosphere being overtly charged, politically and communally.
“This way they gave a befitting reply to the conspirators and also made it clear that they were not going to be misled as the BJP leaders wanted,” he said.
