A reshuffle in the state organisation of the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely after the two-day meeting of the national executive of the party in Delhi from January 16.

Sources in the BJP said some leaders were likely to find a berth in the team of party president Jagat Prakash Nadda, who is all set to get a second term as party president. Reshuffle is also likely to be made in the Narendra Modi led Union Council of Ministers, where some MPs from UP may be inducted and some may be dropped.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, state BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, general secretary (organisation) Dharmpal Singh, two deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak and Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh will participate in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the BJP state president has set the task of ensuring the victory of the party candidates in the UP Legislative Council election. Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said the BJP already enjoyed two-third majority in the legislative council, the Upper House of the UP legislature, and the victory of the BJP candidates in all five seats would send a powerful message ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP has decided to launch an intensive campaign to contact and communicate with voters for the victory of party candidates in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council election from three graduate and two teachers’ constituencies to be held on January 30. The party will also launch a campaign in the 14 parliamentary constituencies in the state that it lost in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda will lead the campaign by addressing public meetings in the Lok Sabha constituencies won by the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party.

A meeting of party leaders and office-bearers was held under BJP state unit president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary in the party office on Saturday to discuss the strategy for the legislative council and Lok Sabha elections. Party’s state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh was also present in the meeting.

Chaudhary said, “The party is contesting the election with the resolve to ensure the victory of its candidates in the legislative council election. The party workers should highlight the development and welfare schemes launched by the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.”

The BJP has announced its candidates for three graduate and two teachers’ constituencies. They include Devendra Pratap Singh (Gorakhpur-Faizabad graduate constituency), Arun Pathak (Kanpur graduate constituency), Jai Pal Singh Vyast (Bareilly-Moradabad graduate constituency), Babulal Tiwari (Allahabad-Jhansi teachers’ constituency) and Venu Ranjan Bhadauria (Kanpur teachers’ constituency).
