The Reliance Industries is coming to Uttar Pradesh in a big way with Mukesh Ambani having assured Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that the number of Reliance Digital stores and Reliance petrol pumps would be increased by almost four times and Jio would be used as a knowledge platform for farmers of the state for the first time.

The assurance from Ambani has given a new hope to the officers who have been working overtime to make the proposed Investment Meet in lucknow on February 21 and 22 a big success.

“This is confirmed that Reliance Industry will invest in different sectors in UP. It will not only increase its petrol pumps from existing 300 to 1000 but the number of Reliance Digital stores will also go up almost four times,” Information Advisor to Chief Minister, Mritunjay Narain Singh told ‘The Pioneer’ in lucknow on Monday.

Singh was privy to a meeting between Mukesh Ambani and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath when they met during CM’s last visit to Mumbai on December 22. The Reliance Group chief asked his officers to prepare the project and start confabulations with UP government officials. The proposals have started pouring in.

“Ambani has made it clear that he is not looking for concessions from the government. The company is not even area specific as it is ready to invest in Bundelkhand and eastern UP. The only assurance these companies need is protection, which the CM has assured,” Singh said.

The CM’s advisor added that even industrialists like Ambani and Ratan Tata have acknowledged improvement in law and order in the state.

Singh said that Ambani wants to use Jio as knowledge platform where it would help in dissemination of information to farmers on soil testing, quality of seeds, nature of fertilizer to be used and what crop to use in specific environment.

“Ambanis wants to try a system where consumers will be in touch with farmers directly. It will be like a taxi system. If a consumer needs a particular vegetable he will be put in touch with farmers or vis-a-versa. This way both consumers and producers will be in touch and their association will help them to earn money,” he said.

The Reliance has also shown interest in investment in sports as it would set up over 600 sport centers across the state foucssing at smaller areas. “It has also shown interest in keeping Ganga clean particularly in the stretch between Kanpur and Allahabad,” the Information Advisor said.
