Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) general secretary Satish Mishra stressed that the fight in the coming Assembly polls will be between the BSP and the BJP while other parties will be pithcing in for third and fourth slots.
Adressing a ‘Brahmin Bhaichara Convention’ in Gazipur on Saturday, Mishra said that the BJP is anti-Brahmin, uses Brahmins for votes and forgets them after coming to power. He said that the BJP used Atal Bihari Bajpai’s name to garner Brahmin votes even as senior leader Murali Monohar Joshi has been sidelined in the party and former state chief laxmi Kant Bajpai was maginalised after lok Sabha polls. "Even senior leader like Kalraj Mishra has been given an insignificant ministry at the Centre," he claimed.
Claiming that the BSP was the true well-wisher of the comunity, Mishra pointed out that in 2007, the BSP had 40 Brahmin legislators and BSP chief Mayawati gave important departments to 16 of them.
Explaining the voters' dynamics, Mishra said that there are 16 per cent Brahmins in UP while Dalits account for 22 per cent voters. "Hence, if Dalit and Brahmins join hands during the voting for Assembly polls, the BSP will definitely form the next government in the state," Mishra asserted.
