Rajnath's faux pas

PNS

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh made a faux pas when he asked party workers not to be ‘seekers’ and instead be ‘givers’ and wait for one or two generations to get their dues.

The statement brought a pin-drop silence in the hall which was chock-a-block with over 700 leaders who had come to attend the BJP state working committee meeting here on Saturday.

Singh probably realised that he had made a mistake and gave a hearty laugh. “People come to me saying they have not got this or that. I tell them wait. This wait can be long and can stretch to next generation but do not worry,” he said.

He then said: “It was your hard work that catapulted BJP to power. You were giver and we were taker and are in power. Utilise this power of yours.”

The statement did not go well with the party leaders as some of them questioned Singh’s remark. “Rajnathji has made it clear that party workers should not ask for anything. We should have patience. And patience for one or two generationij” a worker asked.
