Launching the Skill India Rozgar Mela, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that this training was making youths self-reliant and opening doors of opportunity for them, which in turn would help in reviving grassroot economy.
Singh inaugurated the Skill India Rozgar Mela at Jai Narain PG College at Charbagh here on Friday.
The three-day Rozgar Mela has been organised by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)
“It provides a platform to the aspiring candidates to interact with potential employers and learn more about vocational training, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities available in various sectors,” Singh said.
Talking about the importance of skill development for youths, the Union Home Minister said: “The government along with the NSDC is empowering youths with skill to make them self-reliant and confident. As Lucknow is my parliamentary constituency, I urge youths to come and participate in this Rozgar Mela and learn more about job prospects and entrepreneurship opportunities that would help them transform their lives towards a better tomorrow. This is a platform that will not only provide a glimpse into the potential employment opportunities but also connect aspirants to recruiters and training providers.”
Besides offering youths a chance to understand the dynamics of the industry of their interest and explore the employment possibilities, the Rozgar Mela would provide a network of corporates at one location, Singh said, adding that the successful candidates would be given employment offer at the venue itself.
About 80 leading companies from diverse sectors are participating in the event, including Airtel, HDFC, KFC, Karvy Consultants among others.
“The Rozgar Mela will bring skilled candidates closer to realising their dreams by providing them an opportunity to reach out to recruiters, human resource (HR) managers, admission officers and advisory bodies/training providers,” Singh said.
