Rahul appeals to voters of Amethi Promises speeding development  projects ‘blocked by BJP’

Striking an emotional chord, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to the people of his parliamentary constituency Amethi

Referring to the voters as his extended family, Rahul has assured them that once his party came to power at the Centre, all projects would be completed at a faster pace.

In his letter addressed to ‘Mera Amethi parivar’ (my Amethi family), Rahul has urged the voters of his constituency to vote him back as their MP.

He said that the projects which were stalled by the Bharatiya Janata Party intentionally, would be pushed for the region and expedited as soon as the Congress formed the government at the Centre.

Polling will be held in Amethi in the fifth phase on May 6.

Rahul, who visited Amethi frequently in recent times along with sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, further wrote, “On May 6, vote in large numbers to bring back this member of the family to represent you.”

Accusing the BJP of setting up a ‘factory of lies’ and distributing ‘rivers of cash’ to lure voters, Rahul says in the letter that Amethi’s strength lay is its ‘honesty, integrity and simplicity’, adding that the Amethi voters would not fall into the BJP trap.

Rahul says in the letter. “My Amethi family gives me courage to stand with the truth, and hear the pain of the poor and the weak and raise my voice for them and to ensure equal justice for all.”

“There are two ideologies in the country. The Congress works for farmers, youth, weaker sections, women and small traders while the ruling BJP works only for 15-20 industrialists. With your love, I have tried to unite the country from north to south; east to west... My karmabhoomi Amethi’s ideology is getting support from across the country,” the Congress chief wrote.

Voters of Amethi have favoured Rahul Gandhi since his first election in 2004, but the party is worried by the reduced vote share in the 2014 general elections in which the BJP had fielded Smriti Irani against the Congress chief.

After Rahul chose to contest from a second seat, Wayanad in Kerala, the BJP accused him of opting for another constituency for fear of losing Amethi.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he ‘ditched’ the people of the country by promising good days which are still elusive.

Addressing a poll rally in Amethi on Thursday, the cricketer-turned-politician charged that no action was taken against scamsters like Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi as they belonged to Gujarat and that good days had come only for them,.

Sidhu further alleged, “Modi used to brag about bringing back black money back. Where is it? Modi promised two crore jobs every year but did not give jobs to anyone. “

He said the Congress carried out a lot of development in Amethi and hence this time, the people of Amethi would not only elect a Member of Parliament but a prime minister also as Rahul would become the PM after polls.
