The RTI filed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wife Jashodaben in Gujarat found its echo in Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday when cornered by BJP over Mulayam Singh Yadav’s non-performance comments, parliamentary Affairs minister Md Azam Khan asked as why Prime Minister has failed to take care of his wife.
Stunned by the sudden allegations leveled by Azam Khan, the BJP members trooped into the well of the House saying the issue Minister was raising does not concern Uttar Pradesh and should not be taken up in the House. But, by that time the table was turned and Government was saved from the embarrassment that Mulayam Singh Yadav’s comments about ministers had caused.
The issue came up during zero hour when BJP raised the issue of non-performance of Akhilesh Yadav Government. They quoted Mulayam Singh Yadav’s criticism during foundation stone laying function of much-hyped Agra-lucknow Expressway.
BJP legislature party leader Suresh Khanna said that Mulayam Singh had said that ministers were taking commission and were not doing their work efficiently. “Mulayam Singh ji had even said that non-performing ministers would be removed,” he said. Satish Mahana (BJP) said that Mulayam’s statement that Government only inaugurates schemes but does not complete them. “This proves our charges of non-performance of the state government are correct,” he said.
Azam Khan said these allegations are wrong. The BJP leaders were quoting newspaper reports whereas newspapers have reported that Prime Minister’s wife has sought details about her security.“She has filed a RTI application to know her rights as wife of Prime Minister. This is shame that wife of Prime Minister has to seeks details about her security. She has been left in a lurch while the fact is she is entitled to stay in 7, RCR,” Khan said.
Stung by these allegations the BJP members trooped into the well of the House raising slogans like “Commission khoro ki srakar nahi chalegi”. The members demanded that their arguments should be heard bur Presiding officer Anup Sanda reused to entertain their pleas.
