Dube said that state employees were getting the benefit of revised pay scale and allowances since January 2016, which has so far been denied to Power employees.

The Convener said that on August 22, leaders of different unions representing Power employees will meet in lucknow on August 22 and later a procession will be taken to Shakti Bhawan.

He said that in the next phase of agitation, the employees would stage protest demonstration across the state on August 30. He said if the demand of pay revision was not accepted by the UPPCl, then Power employees would boycott work from September 12.

Power employees have also been demanding restoration of UP State Electricity Board (UPSEB) which was done in January 2000 and was split into three corporate entities. Three separate companies were created for power generation, transmission and distribution.

Shailendra Dube said that the experiment of corporatization of Power sector has failed to deliver and hence all three companies be integrated and the UPSEB be restored.
