Power crisis to end next year: SP

Biswajeet, PNS

With new thermal projects on the anvil Samajwadi Party deputy leader in the lok Sabha Reoti Raman Singh said that the power crisis in Uttar Pradesh would end next year.

''After the start of generation of 1900 megawatt Bara Thermal Power station at Allahabad and 1000 megawatt of Anpara D unit in 2014, the power crisis would end  automatically,'' he said here. Bara thermal unit, constructed by JP Industries in the private sector would generate through three units of 660 mw and all will be commissioned in 2014, he said.

Talking to media persons here on Sunday the Allahabad lok Sabha member said that the delay in generation of power was due to the hurdles created by the previous Mayawati government in the state. ''Around 10,000 mw of additional power is slated to be generated in the next two to three years thus making UP power surplus state and it would be in position to export excess power to other states,'' he added.

He, however, blamed previous government for installation of inferior quality of transformers during Mayawati’s regime. ''Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has ordered replacement of all the faulty transformers and now things are coming on the track,'' he said. The MP claimed that the power hub in Allahabad would generate direct employment to the youths besides it will also provide indirect jobs and business to the local people.  Three mega power plants at Bara, Meja and Karchana were under construction in Allahabad.
