Police files chargesheet against SP candidate

PNS

Samajwadi Party candidate for by-polls to Kairana Assembly seats faced trouble after the local Muzaffarnagar police filed a charge-sheet against him for violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The case was filed against Nahid Hasan, in connection with his objectionable remarks made in last Parliament elections.

According to reports from Muzaffarnagar, local police  filed the charge-sheet under Section 171 of IPC against Nahid, in a local court at  Kairana on Wednesday. local magistrate concerned has reportedly fixed November 20 as the date for a hearing in the matter.

It may be mentioned that Samajwadi Party (SP) has named Hasan, who had contested unsuccessfully on its ticket in the 2014 general elections, as its candidate for the Oct. 15 by-election for the Kairana Assembly seat. The model code of conduct violation case was registered against Hasan in March of this year for allegedly making defamatory remarks against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, during campaigning for the Kairana lok Sabha seat in March this year.

The nomination process for the Assembly by-poll was notified on Sept. 20 and is open till Sept. 27. Hasan is yet to enter his name as a candidate for the seat as he so far not filed his nomination. Interestingly, Hassan already received a set-back after Congress gave ticket to his uncle Arshad Hassan, for the on-going by-elections for Kairana Assembly seat.
