Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the year-long centenary celebrations of the Chauri Chaura incident in Gorakhpur, one of the ambitious programmes of the Yogi Adityanath government, on February 4.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has planned a series of events for the whole year starting February 4 next.

“The series of events will endeavour to give due respect to the martyrs of the Chauri Chaura incident and others who are little-known or unknown,” a government spokesman said here on Thursday.

According to the instructions of the chief minister, from February 4, 2021 to February 4, 2022, there will be daily events that will remind the people of the Chauri Chaura incident which played a decisive role in the freedom movement.

The first meeting of the state-level organising committee headed by UP Governor Anandiben Patel on Wednesday released the logo of the event and finalised an action plan for the celebrations.

The chief minister had inaugurated the beautification work of the Chauri Chaura memorial earlier during his visit to Gorakhpur. He had also termed the renovation of the martyrs’ monuments as a medium of reverence for the martyrs.
