PioneCongress legislators were all set to take on the government on the floor of both the Houses of the State Assembly on hike of power bills, deteriorating law and order situation, non-distribution of woolens in government schools etc.

``We will take on the government over putting extra burden on the public by increasing the power tariff, for not distributing woolen in government schools even when the winter is already half way, for deteriorating law and order etc”, disclosed Congress MlC, Deepak Singh, here on Wednesday. He said that the Party leader in both the Houses would also take on the government in the present Winter Session for cheating the farmers. He claimed that Yogi had also said that the House will run for 90 days but so far it completed only 18-days which pointed that Government in running away to answer the queries of the Opposition Party leaders.

Meanwhile Congress also took on the Government over introduction of Uttar Pradesh Control of Organised Crime Act (UPCOCA), by making a cabinet approval and deciding to bring it on the Floor of the House in the current Winter Session. ``There are various provisions under various sections of Cr PC and IPC along with that of UP Gangsters Act etc but bringing in UPCOCA is just an effort to divert the public attention from rising organise crime in the State”, asserted Uttar Pradesh Congress spokesman, Sanjay Vajpayee while reacting on cabinet approval to UPCOCA here on Wednesday afternoon.

``Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed in public meetings that law and order is completely under control then why he feel the necessity of introducing a separate law on crime”, further questions Vajpayee while saying that the truth behind Yogi’s claim of control in crime is already stand exposed as National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) data clearly showed that after Delhi, lucknow is the most unsafe city for the members of fairer sex in the country.

Vajpayee also apprehended that the UPCOCA could be used for harassment of leaders of Opposition Parties. ``Mayawati had first introduced UPCOCA in 2007 when she was the chief minister and the then BSP government had sent it for presidential assent when Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) was in office, but our Party rejected it”, pointed Bajpayee while saying that even that time, Congress is very clear that prevent law is enough to control crime and introduction of fresh law like UPCOCA would only led to misuse of power by the government to settle score with the opposition party leaders in the name of controlling organised crime.

Bajpayee said that Gujarat, too, has a similar law passed by its legislature in April 2003, but is still awaiting presidential approval. It may be mentioned here that the presidential assent was denied by the UPA as it was observed that Maharashtra and Gujarat had allegedly applied the law more against the minorities and other political parties leaders in the two states.
