UP Power Corporation employees welcomed the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s move of ensuring the security of their provident fund deposit.

The Power Employee’s Joint Action Committee (PEJAC) said that they were now confident that the UP government would soon issue a gazette notification giving an undertaking that it would make payment of provident fund to the power employees.

On Thursday, Yogi Adityanath reviewed the situation arising out of the provident fund cash blocked in Deewan Housing Finance Company. The debt-ridden company defaulted in repayment of Rs 40,000 crore to PSU banks and also the payment obligations towards mutual fund, pension fund, fixed deposits and other borrowings.

Yogi Adityanath summoned top officials of Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of UP Police and officials of UP Power Corporation Limited and directed them to collect evidence against those guilty of depositing provident fund money as fixed deposit with the DHFL.

The Chief Minister also asked officials to explore all options for the payment of provident fund to power employees. He also reviewed the progress in the EOW investigations into the PF scam and asked officials to ensure that the guilty did not go scot free.

Yogi asked UPPCL brass to ensure that a clear message went out to power employees that the state government was committed to ensuring the safety and payment of their hard-earned provident fund money.

The Chief Minister also reiterated that the government was with the power employees and was making sincere efforts to recover the money from DHFL and return it to the power employees.

Meanwhile, the power employees staged peaceful demonstrations at Shakti Bhawan and at all districts. The agitating employees also met elected representatives in districts and apprised them of their angst due to the PF scam.

The striking employees had earlier given a call for work boycott from November 28, demanding issuance of notification by the government in this regard.
