Congress general Secretary and in-charge of Party affairs here in the State, Madhusudan Mistri said that it would be the blackest day of the country if Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi assumes Prime Minister post.
‘’ People of the country should be alert about the sinister design of the BJP before the lok Sabha elections and they should not allow them to fool the people,’’ he said. ‘’It would be the blackest day for the country if Modi was supported by the people and become prime minister,’’ he further added. Talking to media persons in Faizabad just before heading for Gorakhpur on Thursday afternoon, Mistri accompanied by State Congress president and local MP from Faizabad, Nirmal Khatri, said that there is no magic of Modi as being circulated by the BJP. ‘’ Where was the magic of Narendra Modi in Karnatak elections, where BJP could win only 40 seats.
Similar was in Kerala while in most other states of the BJP allies, the party prefer not to allow Modi to go there,’’ he said. Claiming that it was just a myth terming Narendra Modi governance in Gujarat as an unprecedented one, Mistri, who also hails from Gujarat, said corruption was rampant there while now all the top police officials and even the BJP leaders are going to jail for their illegal activities. When his attention was drawn towards the party’s role in the State against the ruling Samajwadi Party, the AICC in-charge clarified that the Party should be aggressive against the opposition parties on peoples’ issue.He also said that several Congress leaders of Mainpuri, Etawah and Aurriya, the stronghold of the SP, have urged him to strengthen the party in their regions and contest the lok Sabha elections in a serious manner.
’’During my meetings in lucknow and Faizabad, I have asked the party leaders to strengthen the party at the booth level shedding away all differences within the party rank and file,’’he said. The Congress general secretary also said about new process to select the candidates for the lok Sabha elections to be decided by the block to state level committes. Mistri, is on a tour of eastern UP with starting from lucknow on July 9. He will conclude the first phase of the tour on Friday after holding several rounds of discussions with the Congress leaders of eastern UP at Gorakhpur. The Congress leader also inaugurated zonal offices in lucknow, Faizabad and Gorakhpur.
