Opposition terms state budget as anti-people and anti-farmer

Terming the state budget presented by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Vidhan Sabha on Friday as ‘anti-people and anti-farmer’, the opposition parties said that the Samajwadi Party government has been exposed in this budget.

“There is nothing to talk about in this budget. It has nothing substantial for the youth and the farmers and has done nothing to improve the quality of life of dalits and downtrodden. In short, this budget is very disappointing,” leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Swamy Prasad Maurya said in a statement issued in lucknow. Almost all political parties reacted in a similar manner and flayed the provisions.

BJP legislature party leader Suresh Khanna said, “The budget is silent on generating employment. There has been no attempt to improve the law and order and improve infrastructure barring a few select districts.”

“The government said it would implement Food Security Act in select region but there is no budgetary provision to identify the beneficiaries. There is no attempt to improve irrigation facilities and provide drinking water to people,” he said adding that the budget has nothing for the common man.

State Congress chief Nirmal Khatri said that though the Chief Minister has presented the biggest ever budget in the history of UP, there is no attempt to improve condition of the farmers. “The allocation for farmers of Bundelkhand region is meagre and insufficient,” he said.

RlD leader Anil Dubey said that though the state government has allocated funds for farmers it was inadequate. “The Chief Minister had made promises to people and it was expected that he would fulfill them in this budget. But this has also disappointed the common people,” he said.

Meanwhile, Adarsh Vyapar Mandal has hailed state budget. “This is a good sign that the state government has not imposed any new taxes,” Adarsh Vyapar Mandal president Sanjay Gupta said.
