Hitting out at opposition leaders, state BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey said that some leaders were defaming the valour of Army and questioning surgical strike in quest of votes and the people of the country would give a befitting reply to them in the coming elections.

Speaking at a function wherein some leaders, including former MPs, joined the BJP, Pandey said that the SP-BSP-RLD alliance was a grand alliance of corrupt parties. “They supported the Congress during the UPA regime and when they governed Uttar Pradesh, these parties allowed crime to flourish,” he alleged.

“It is a history that goonda raj prevailed during the SP and BSP regimes. Both Mayawati and Akhilesh governments were the most corrupt governments which affected development of the state,” Pandey alleged.

The BJP leader said that governments of Modi and Yogi had implemented policies to benefit crores of poor, youth and farmers. “In the election, people will give a befitting reply to those who are spreading misinformation campaign,” he said.

On Tuesday, among those who joined the BJP were former SP MP Yashvir Singh Dhobi (Bijnore), former MLA and senior RLD leader Vansh Narain Singh Patel, former MLA and BSP leader Mitiyari Lal Devesh (Agra),  former BSP leader, who contested against Narendra Modi in Varanasi in 2014, Vijay Prakash Jaiswal, former DG SN Chak, former Income Tax Commissioner Ram Samujh and dozens of other leaders from the Congress, RLD and also social workers.
