Close on the heels of the arrest of two members associated with the Students of Aligarh Muslim University (SAMU), the sleuths of the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) on Tuesday night held one more member of the gang.

They are deeply inspired by the ideology of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and involved in anti-India conspiracies.

In an official release, the ATS claimed that on the basis of information extracted from the two SAMU members – Abdullah Arsalan and Maaz Bin Tariq – it conducted raids and arrested one more member of the outfit, Wajihuddin Idris, from Durg in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday night.

Wajihuddin is associated with the banned terrorist organisation ISIS and as per the instructions of his ISIS handler, he was conspiring to cause a major incident to fulfill his terrorist plans. To implement his plans, he was connecting people with ISIS and was training them for jihad.

Wajihuddin has obtained a PhD degree from Aligarh Muslim University. Wajihuddin used to work to connect new people to ISIS under the guise of SAMU.

He will be brought to Lucknow for further interrogation.

Earlier on Monday, the ATS had claimed that it was receiving intelligence inputs for the past several days that some people, inspired by the ideology of ISIS, had taken oath for ISIS and were hatching an anti-national conspiracy. The ATS said these people were radicalised and were members of ISIS and on the instructions of their seniors, they were creating an army for terrorist jihad by uniting together people with similar ideological beliefs.
