The Yogi government informed the Assembly on Thursday that there was no proposal on the anvil  to announce fresh farm loan waiver scheme during the current fiscal.

In a written reply to a question of  Congress member Ajay Kumar lallu and others, Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Sahi said that the farm loan waiver was meant only for those farmers whose loan was up to Rs one lakh and the deadline was March 31, 2016.

“There is no question of bringing a fresh farm loan waiver scheme now,” he added.

The Yogi government had earmarked loan waiver to the tune of over Rs 36,000 crore to benefit about 86 lakh farmers.

However, reports said that only 57 per cent of the waiver amount has been used, so far.

Meanwhile, replying to another question, MSME minister Satyadeo Pachauri said that since 2014-15, 12,9259 people were given job under Prime Minister Self Employment scheme.

State Youth minister Chetan Chauhan said that till January 2018, 6,25,665 youth were enrolled for skill training and 4,42,447 received training so far.

To another question, Industry minister Satish Mahana said that a proposal is on the anvil to make cotton mill in Bahedi operational under PPP model. He said that cotton mills are going through a bad phase but some entrepreneurs had shown interest in operating the Bahedi mill in Bareli so the government has decided to make it operational under PPP model.

Mahana however said that no such proposals have been received to revive cotton mills in Kanpur.
