The National Human Rights Commission (NRHC) has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that a youth fell on the track and died when a Travel Ticket Examiner (TTE) on board Gorakhdham Express pushed him out of the running train near Khalilabad Railway Station on last Thursday.
Reportedly, the youth was travelling from Delhi to Gorakhpur. During checking in the General Compartment of the train, the youth was found ticket-less. The TTE demanded Rs.500 from him which he could not pay. The Commission has observed that the contents of the press report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim. Accordingly, it has issued notices to the Secretary, Railway Board and Senior Superintendent of Railway Police, Sant Kabir Nagar, calling for reports within two weeks for further action.
