After much delay Governor Ram Naik has approved the appointment of the new lokayukt Justice (Retd) Virendra Singh who will be sworn in onDecember 20.
Raj Bhawan spokesman said here on Friday that the new lokayukta will take the oath at 1030 hrs on Sunday.
He said that the proposal from the government came last night for the appointment of the lokayukt but it did not carry certified copy of the Supreme court order. As the order was received on Friday the Governor gave his approval there and then, he said.
Justice Virendra Singh was appointed by Supreme Court on Wednesday last after a three member committee comprising Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, leader of the opposition in the assembly Swami Prasad Maurya and chief justice of Allahabad high court D Y Chandrachud could not reach to any consensus on any name.
