The office of the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Jawed Usmani and other State Information Commissioners would start functioning in its new building in Gomti Nagar from coming Monday onwards. However, the official inauguration of the building by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would be made later on.
"We still not talked to the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to finalise some date on which the official inauguration would take place but still the entire functioning of the RTI Office would be started from coming Monday”, confirmed one of the State Information Commissioners (SIC) here on Thursday afternoon.
Sources said that almost all the SICs visited their office on Wednesday as well as on Thursday to supervise final touched to their offices so that functioning would take place smoothly from Monday onwards. The SICs claimed that the people and the RTI activists visiting at the old office in Indira Bhawan faced lot to difficulties due to short of space as well as other facilities like drinking water, canteen for refreshment, toilets or even proper place to sit and wait for the hearing. However, in the new office, all the proper facilities will be forwarded to the visitors so they should not hesitate to take up the matter. The SIC claimed that proper courts, waiting lounges, canteens etc would facilitate in implementing the RTI Act more efficiently and successfully.
