Well placed sources confirmed that in her Facebook profile, Shweta posted the picture of an injured lioness and wrote that one should be afraid of an injured serpent, injured lioness and a humiliated woman, on Tuesday night. In Bhadohi, a man set his 60-year-old mother on fire as she prevented him from thrashing his wife in Muktapur village on Monday. The accused, Mahajan, later consumed poison. Mahajan's mother, Rajkumari, succumbed to her burn injuries at a Varanasi hospital while her son was struggling for life in a private hospital in Varanasi and his condition was stated to be critical.

During the initial probe, it surfaced that Mahajan used to pressure Rajkumari to vacate her room, as he wanted to live there with his wife and children. He also used to argue with his mother often over this. On Monday night, Mahajan reached home in an inebriated state and offered poison to his wife. When she refused to consume it, he tried to thrash her when his mother intervened. Irked by this, Mahajan caught hold of the woman and torched her before consuming a poisonous substance.

Rajkumari was rushed to a hospital where doctors referred her to Varanasi but she succumbed to her burns during treatment on Tuesday night. Mahajan was admitted to a hospital in Mirzapur but was later referred to Varanasi following sharp deterioration in his health.
