Muzaffarnagar violence: BSP hits out at SP

PNS, Biswajeet

After BJP it is BSP that has started crying foul over arrest of its legislators in connection with Muzaffarnagar riots saying the arrest was an act of political vendetta and only one-sided action was taken to save the main culprits.

"The state government has taken action against its political rivals but has spared its own leaders who were present in the Mahapanchayat and had addressed people. How can Government take one-sided action and go scot free," BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya said here on Sunday.

Addressing reporters here he said the Government is working on "Cover-up Operation" and is trying to protect people responsible for the crime that led to killing of so many innocent people.

"The SP government is hell-bent on taking one-sided legal action," Maurya who is also leader of BSP legislature Party said.

Incidentally, the BJP too has levelled similar allegations. It has questioned as why BJP and BSP legislators were arrested but no action was taken against SP vice-president who too addressed the people.

BSP MlA from Charthawal, Noor Saleem Rana, was arrested for allegedly inciting violence in Muzaffarnagar."The state government had spared the Samajwadi Party and the Congress leaders for instigating the riots but have arrested the BSP MlA Noor Salim Rana. Now the government was trying to arrest the party MP Kadir Rana too," said Maurya.

law is equal for all and there must be no discrimination in legal action, he said.He said the Muzaffarnagar riot was a conspiracy between BJP and SP but now the Government is targeting BSP leaders." The SP and the BJP wants a clear division between the Muslims and the Hindus in view of coming lok Sabha elections," he said.

The BSP leader said that when a sting operation by a TV channel clearly stated that UP minister Mohammad Azam Khan was responsible for the riots then why the government was waiting toarrest him.

Taking Cognizance of the statement of Maulana Ahmed Bukhari, Sahi Imam of Jama Maszid, Maurya said that now Bukhari is also saying that  Azam Khan is Narendra Modi of UP." Bukhari is a leader of the Samajwadi Party and his statement should be taken seriously," he added.

"BSP wants to appeal the people of the state to maintain communal harmony and remain alert from communal forces," he said.
