Hitting out at State Government for targeting BJP for riots in Muzaffarnagar, party’s state president laxmikant Bajpai said that it was a partisan probe carried out with an aim to keep a section of society happy.
"If you look at charge-sheet it will prove what BJP is saying is correct. The charge sheet in Muzaffarnagar riots was one-sided. It is ridiculous that the two BJP MlAs-- Sangeet Singh Som and Suresh Rana were chargesheeted on the charges which the High Court advisory board had scrapped in its judgement on slapping NSA against them,"
Dr Bajpai said while addressing reporters here on Sunday.He said if High Court judges did not find substance in those charges this proves how flimsy they were. "Moreover, while two BJP MlAs were arrest Maulana Nazir, who has been accused on the same charges has been given Y-category security by the Samajwadi Party government," he said and added: "The Government had brought the same Maulana as shaaniti doot (peace messenger) to restore peace in the riot torn area.".
The BJP state president also questioned as why the police have not charge sheeted SP, BSP or Congress leaders. Why there is no Muslim in the policecharge sheetIJ, he asked. "The Samajwadi Party Government is afraid of increasing popularity of Narendra Modi and therefore it has started a smearing campaign against BJP," Dr Bajpai said.
Bajpai announced that the party would move privilege motion in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly against the DM, SSP Muzaffarnagar and DGP over the arrest of the two party MlAs - Sangeet Som and Rana.
