Mother of the one of the Badaun victim had reportedly given her consent to the sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI), to exhume the bodies and went ahead with second post-mortem examination.
``Sleuths of CBI is just grilling my family members as if we are killers but still I gave my consent for the second post-mortem examination as I and my family wanted justice and to ensure that the culprits should be punished for their criminal act”, disclosed mother of the younger of the cousin sisters, whose bodies were found hanging with tree on May 27 last in Badaun. Sources said that the consent would ease the job of the CBI to get clearance from the local court and went ahead to exhume both the bodies and get second autopsy  conducted.
It may be mentioned that in a new twist to the gang-rape and killing of two cousin sisters here in May last, the CBI probing the incident had decided  to exhume the bodies for going through another round of postmortem. The deceased girls were buried outside the village as they were minor. CBI sources disclosed that they would like to go for second round of postmortem after exhuming the bodies of both the girls.
The CBI wanted to get the second post-mortem examination conducted as they wanted to get some doubts cleared about the rape and murder theory as floated by family members and local residents. Sources said that the CBI is probing into the honour killing angle as well as the property dispute, which had come up during probe by the UP police. Sources said that the CBI is advocating second autopsy as they were not satisfied with the first post-mortem examination, in which one of the three doctors, Dr Pushpalata Pant, was conducting the job for the first time, while the panel also remained silent over from where the blood found near the private part of the younger girl came from, whether it was human blood, the time of death of the two girls, expert opinion over the finding that the death is result to asphyxia as a result of anti-mortem hanging etc.
Meanwhile, the CBI conducted polygraph test of the fathers of the deceased along with another family member and a witness for the third day on Wednesday at Central Forensic Science laboratory in New Delhi.  It may be mentioned that on Tuesday, protesting the move, the victims' brother Virendra along with the members of Naya Daur Party sat on fast unto death  at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, alleging that CBI is harassing his family by subjecting his father to lie-detector test. They alleged that CBI is focusing on the victims rather than the accused. It may be mentioned that the CBI had already went through polygraphy test of all the five who were accused in the FIR by the girl’s family members.
The CBI sources said the statements given by the family members have some inconsistencies which need to be clarified before proceeding in the case.
Two girls, both sisters, were gang-raped and then hanged from a tree outside their  Katra village in Badaun last month, leading to a national outrage. Even the United Nations and the US took note of the incident and aired their concern on the growing crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh. UP's police top officials have also hinted that it was a case of honour killing.
