At the inauguration of the Urban India Conclave, Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again praised the works of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying due to the efforts of Yogi, Uttar Pradesh was at the first place in the country in the implementation of PM Svanidhi Yojana, which provided support to the poor during the coronavirus pandemic period.

“Three cities across the country have done excellent work in this scheme. They include two cities from UP -- Lucknow and Kanpur Nagar. Under the scheme, more than seven lakh street vendors of UP have got direct benefit of the scheme, which is a big achievement,” Modi said, adding that work was being done to connect the street vendors and handcart traders directly with the bank.

The prime minister said that street vendors across the country had to face the most during the lockdown. He said their business was almost closed and starting the business afresh was no less challenging for them. He said in such a situation, the PM Svanidhi Yojana of the Central government became a big support for the street vendors,

Under this scheme, the street vendors were given loans of up to Rs 10,000 so that they could start their work again. The loan process was kept easy and the loan was made available without any guarantee.

Modi also praised the local bodies of Lucknow and Kanpur Nagar for giving loans to street vendors.

At the same time, UP tops all the states of the country in the implementation of 41 schemes of the Central government, he added.
